iTuned

I've been downloading a lot on iTunes recently- more than usual, which is essential any number above nil. So here's what I've found for myself.

- Katusha, by Moscow Nights (this group does Russian Folk, but their first CD is shit. The second one is much, much better! More energy, better sound tech, and a little faster)

- Through the Fire and Flames, by Dragonforce (say what you will about Dragonforce, but it's a fun song. Check out the music video:

- Samba Beach, by Mason Williams (easy listening from the guy who wrote classical gas)

- Whiskey in the Jar, by The Pogues (screw Metalica, their cover of that classic Irish song is weak compared to genuinely salty Irishmen. I'd recommend pretty much everything they perform)

- The Ballad of the Greenland Whalers, performed by The Chad Mitchell Trio (this is a fun performance of the soul-crushing career of whaling, in a part of the world where barely the sun shines. Yet, the song is plucky)

Other than that, I'm procrastinating. I'm excited, though, because my friend Bug is working at Valleyfair this year at the caricature booth. Those of you who are familiar with her work will know how she'll fit that job like a glove. If you aren't familiar with her, check out her site: http://www.unfortunatefrancis.blogspot.com/

I took a tour at UPS last night to find out if I could get employment there. It wouldn't work, though, with my schedule, and the fact I don't want to work midnight to 3 or 5 AM. I like sleeping next to Nikki. Still, it's very cool to see the massive warehouse, where the millions of packages are being arranged like Tetris blocks.

This weekend, on Sunday, I am giving my presentation for CH. I'm very nervous about it. Basically, my break-down is:
1) Free-association rant of my feelings of setting as character.
2) Examples of comics that use setting as character (mostly European works).
3) Examples that don't (and are popular).
4) Photos of Europe that help cement my point.
5) A plea to at take what I am trying to say in your own comic work.
6) Virtual Springfield.

But luckily I have friends to help, and I plan to turn it into a group discussion more than me gabbing and stuttering!

Well, all for now. Ádh mór ort!
